Jill Thompson, PT
Owner and President
Jill Thompson, the owner and president of PT 180, has been practicing physical therapy since graduating from the University of Wisconsin: Lacrosse in l981. She has focused her post graduate education on manual therapy and functional orthopedics. She studied under Greg Johnson, PT with the Institute of Physical Art and was an instructor for the Institute for Functional Orthopedics and Back Education and Training from 1986-1992.
Jill has practiced in Boise, Idaho since 1993 working with the staff at the Therapy Source for nine years before venturing on her own. Her eclectic style combines manual therapy (hands on osteopathic myofascial and joint mobilization treatment influenced by the Rolfing technique and Jones strain / counter strain technique) with neuromuscular re-education (proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF), Aston Patterning, and Feldenkrais). She has also received training in cranial/sacral treatment and TMJ (temporal-mandible joint) dysfunction. Her goal is to facilitate the patient’s progress initially using the manual therapy and a home program to control the pain, progressing with postural training and exercise to lead to independence to gain control and prevent re-occurrence.
Paula Kosberg, DPT
Doctor of Physical Therapy
Paula Kosberg has been successfully treating patients in our clinic since 2011. She incorporates a blend of manual therapy, movement analysis, and personalized exercise programs to help each patient reach their goals. Her background in yoga and pilates combined with a keen interest in holistic health care assists patients to achieve their optimal potential. Paula has had specialized training in manual therapy techniques and treats a variety of conditions including lumbopelvic pain, cervical and lower back pain, shoulder pain, and overall balance and mobility impairments. She is the primary instructor for our Posture and Movement Training Class available monthly and through Boise Schools Community education. Paula also volunteers to teach our valuable Fit & Fall Proof classes, which are offered free of charge to the community.
Lisa Kolesar, DPT, OCS
Doctor of Physical Therapy, Orthopedic Clinical Specialist, Certified Pilates Instructor
Lisa graduated from Idaho State University. She has been a practicing/licensed physical therapist since 2005, and earned her credentials for Orthopedic Clinical Specialist in physical therapy in 2013. She is also a licensed athletic trainer, graduating from Boise State University. Lisa has worked in healthcare since 1999, beginning in a hospital setting, and she continues to work at an inpatient rehab center 1 day per week to keep her neuro rehab skills up to date. Lisa has also done additional studies in Pilates and is a certified Pilates instructor for the floor and reformer, with additional training on all the other Pilates apparatuses.
Lisa is involved in the cycling community and is a competitive cyclist herself. She understands and relates to wanting to get back to physical fitness activities when an injury has occurred. Lisa’s goals for treating individuals is to give them the knowledge on how to self-treat, providing them with greater mindfulness in their daily activities that can help or harm ones progress, while providing needed manual therapy techniques to allow them the freedom of movement to enjoy dally activities. Lisa currently works at the State Street Office on Mondays and Fridays and the Meridian office Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Heather Lowe, DPT, ATC, CSCS
Doctor of Physical Therapy, Athletic Training Certificate, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist
Heather graduated from Idaho State University with her Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy. She also completed her bachelors degree in Kinesiology with a Sports Medicine/Athletic Training option. In addition, Heather has maintained both her National Athletic Training Credentials and title as a Certified Sports and Conditioning Specialist. Heather’s specialties include pre and post orthopedic surgical rehabilitation, manual therapy for spine, general injuries and sports rehabilitation. With over ten years combined experience in rehabilitation, Heather looks forward to assisting you with your needs.
Katie Zerr, DPT, OCS
Doctor of Physical Therapy, Orthopedic Clinical Specialist
As a student at Boise State University, Katie felt called to the profession of physical therapy during an
internship at the VA Medical Center. She graduated from Boise State in 2004 with a degree in Health
Science Studies, and then attended Idaho State University, graduating in 2008 as a Doctor of Physical
Katie has enjoyed treating people in the outpatient orthopedic setting, and is a board-certified
Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS). She is also focusing on women’s health, including pregnancy and
post-partum care, and pelvic health.
Doctor of Physical Therapy
Chris Martinez is a Doctor of Physical Therapy and graduate of Idaho State University. He applies a synergistic view of mechanical elements which contribute to movement disorders to craft targeted, effective plans of care. He incorporates experience gained in neurological rehabilitation, acute hospital rehabilitation, home health and geriatrics to aid post-operative and more involved patients make timely recoveries. Chris also teaches the Fit & Fall Proof classes in cooperation with the Central District Health department which are offered free of charge to the community.
Chris is a vintage motorcycle and sports car enthusiast as well as an avid lover of the outdoors.
He is also a natural teacher and enjoys sharing his insights as a clinician with his patients to help them understand their conditions and what they can do to help themselves reach their goals and return to living dynamic active lives.
Josette Troxler, MPT
Masters of Physical Therapy
Josette received a Masters Degree in Physical Therapy from Samuel Merritt College, Oakland, CA in 1993. Prior to completing her Masters, Josette was already studying movement and dysfuction as an Iyengar Yoga instructor (1981 to present.) After completing her degree, she worked as a staff therapist at Kaiser Permanente and later in an orthopedic outpatient setting in Santa Barbara. For the past 14 years, Josette has had an independent clinic, treating chronic and acute injury, fibromyalgia, pain syndromes and multiple systems breakdown with manual therapy and yoga postural and proprioceptive training. She joined PT 180 in Oct 2009.
Josette’s specializes in light touch/indirect techniques including Strain/Counterstrain, Integrative Manual Therapy, Muscle Energy Technique, myofascial release and visceral fascial release for organs, sinuses, lymph, viscera, vessel and gastrointestinal health.
Ruth Hurst, PT
A 1964 graduate of Duke University, Ruth has a successful and diversified career as a Physical Therapist, Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner and Integrative Manual Therapist.
Her over 48 years of practical experience include hands-on and management experience in the military, small community settings as well as a large university hospital. Becoming a Guild Certified Feldenkrais® Practitioner in 1992 she eventually specialized in chronic pain, sensing, feeling, movement and awareness. She continues to study Feldenkrais and Integrative Manual Therapy.
Betsy Wiss, L Ac, Ms.
Betsy received her undergraduate degree from The University of Missouri in Biology and her Master’s degree from The Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego, CA in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. Post-graduate work included training with Orthopedic Doctors at the Rimac Training Center for Athletes in Motor Point Acupuncture Techniques at UCSD. She has worked in integrative medical clinics and chronic pain clinics for 25 years. Her expertise is in blending western with eastern medicine to facilitate the body to heal itself. Â Her specialty is acute pain, chronic pain, and pain management. She has worked with patients that have complex pain patterns, auto-immune symptoms, athletic injuries, post surgical healing, and scar tissue restrictions/pain. She treats auto accidents, workers compensation, and accepts health insurance patients. She currently treats pre-authorized V.A. patients on an outpatient basis at PT 180 for pain, as well as PTSD. Kathryn Williams, CMT
Kathryn graduated from Manifest Health Center School of Massage in Redding, CA. Her training includes Medical Massage, Myofacial Release from John Barnes Inst., Trigger Point Therapy, Shiatsu, and Carpal Tunnel Massage. She worked in Redding, CA for 13 years and then moved to Denver CO. for 5 and 1/2 years where she worked at a Multidisciplinary Clinic featuring both Eastern and Western medicine. She then moved to Idaho and worked 4 years with a specialist in spine and physical medicine. She currently works for Dr. Tod Spainhower, PT 180 and Rejuv Med Spa. Hobbies: Gardening, Exercise and being with her Grandsons.
Kathy Smith, CMT
Kathy has been practicing massage therapy since 2002. She received training at Dahan Institute of Massage Therapy in Las Vegas, NV and is Nationally Certified and Licensed. She is also certified in Cranio-sacral Therapy through the Upledger Institute, as well as Medical Massage, Oriental Hot Stone Therapy, Lomi-Lomi Hawaiian massage and Ashi-Atsu Oriental Bar Therapy.
She has worked for a DC in Las Vegas and for the MGM Grand Casino as well as maintaining a private massage practice. Her goal is to balance the body with a combination of massage techniques such as Trigger Point therapy and neuromuscular massage and energy work. These therapies help to open energy pathways, release tension and eliminate lactic acid from the muscle and connective tissue in the body. By using these techniques the body functions more efficiently and clients experience less pain in daily activities.
Jill Boyer, E-RYT500
Exercise Physiology; Certified Yoga Instructor (Temple of Kriya Yoga); International Association of Yoga Therapists; Yoga Alliance E-RYT 500 Certified; AFAA Instuctor (Aerobic and Fitness Association of America).
In addition to her Yoga and Pilates classes at PT180, Jill teaches the adult fitness programs for the City of Boise and works at BSU as a Fitness Trainer, GTS Trainer, and teaches group exercise classes. She has spent the last 16 years in the health and fitness industry, her first love being Yoga. Jill’s focus has been on stress and anxiety management, helping clients to take control of their life and health issues.
Massage Therapist & Fitness Trainer
Amber Alexander has a well-rounded career as a health and fitness professional. For the last 16 years, she has practiced as a Licensed Massage Therapist. She earned her Certificate for Massage Therapy from the College of Massage Therapy in Salt Lake City, UT (UCMT) in August of 2000. Also, her career has included working as a Certified Personal Trainer, Celebrity Fitness Trainer working with Celebrities in India, Certified Group Fitness Instructor, and Bollywood Dance Instructor. She is passionate about being a health and fitness leader and enjoys any opportunity to teach those who are ready for change, about the importance of a balanced lifestyle and how to obtain optimum health and wellness.
Born in Montreal, Canada and reared in California, she moved to Boise in 2002 and started her massage practice in 2003 with an emphasis on deep-tissue and therapeutic massage.
Dominique began studying CranioSacral Therapy (CST) in 2007 with the Upledger Institute in 2007 and she has been attending classes and training sessions in CST and other gentle manual therapies ever since. These gentle and subtle techniques allow her deeper access to the body and its restriction patterns with less discomfort for the client and often more profound results.
To further the vision of Dr. John Upledger she occasionally act as a teaching assistant in Upledger Institute classes and mentor new students.

As a licensed massage therapist, dancer and movement specialist, treatments may include pain reduction and efficient movement training with appropriate manual therapy to release holding spasm and restrictions limiting your function. Matthew can support your progress in awareness through movement, helping clear obstacles to healing.
